One of the core passions of Venture Church is serving the community we live in. We don’t just do it because we are supposed to but also because we really want to!
It's not a bait-and-switch tactic for us; it's just what people do when they love being loved by Jesus more than anything!
At the individual level, we challenge each other to proactively serve our neighbors, classmates, peers at work, etc. In addition, we also put our resources together to collectively help people in Gaston and Lincoln Counties in ways that truly matter. ‘Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?’ And he said to him, ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. 38 This is the great and first commandment. 39 And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. 40 On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.’
Owe no one anything, except to love each other, for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law. For the commandments, ‘You shall not commit adultery, You shall not murder, You shall not steal, You shall not covet,’ and any other commandment, are summed up in this word: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ 10 Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.”
