Venture is Temporarily Suspending Mass Worship Gatherings

The pastors, staff, and trustees have unanimously decided to suspend Venture’s Worship gatherings until further notice. This includes all children and student events/activities.

HOWEVER!!! Our Life Groups are planning to meet. We are going to be a cell church for a little while!

The weekly sermon will be available on our website (www.DareToVenture.org) as well as our social media by Sunday morning at the latest.

Groups will meet together and watch the sermon, then go through the discussion guide and pray for one another.

Obviously, if you have been in contact with anybody who is sick or show any symptoms at all you should quarantine yourself and call your doctor’s office (people are being strongly encouraged to CALL first).

Why are we doing this?

After consulting with Tracy Philbeck (Chairman of The Gaston County Commissioners), watching the Mecklenburg County press conference and reading the latest advisory by our State’s Governor this is what we are learning.

Spikes are created when numerous people are exposed and infected at one time. Mass gatherings are how that happens.

The hospitals can NOT handle a “spike” of COVID-19 cases. There are literally not enough beds or ventilators to handle a rapid rate of infection. If a “spike” were to occur the hospitals will literally be forced to choose who will receive care and who will not.

Therefore we feel the humble, loving and Biblical thing to do is to be a team player with what our local and state officials are asking us to do.

“Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor.”

Romans 12:10

“Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God.”

Romans 13:1

It is true that the serious risk is primarily for those who are over the age of 65 and those who are unhealthy. HOWEVER, it can not be overstated that mass gatherings greatly increase the speed of the spread of the virus and result in significantly increasing the danger of exposure to those who are at high risk of severe symptoms.

We will continue to update you as things change.

Here are important action steps:

  1. If you are not in a Life Group, now is a great time to get in one! Email Jonathan.Pugh@DareToVenture.org!
  2. The church still has to pay its bills! You can give online like Keri and I do. It’s simple, just click here to give online.
We will also be taking up offerings in Life Groups. Jonathan Pugh will be emailing Group Leaders instructions from our Trustees on how to do that securely.
  3. Pray for our local leaders, doctors, and nurses. Things could be getting really busy for them very soon.
  4. Don’t panic. God’s in charge and if you are in Christ your future is as glorious as He is!

“2 Beloved, we are God’s children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is.”
