At the foundational level, missions is the effort to lead people far from God to know and follow Christ. Biblically, every local church is called to be sold out to this effort. It’s not just the GREAT Commission … it’s the ONLY Commission Jesus gave His Church!
Therefore, at Venture, our vision is two-fold. We want to localize the mission of Christ’s Church throughout the counties on the western side of the Charlotte metro region, AND among people groups around the world who have no access to the Gospel.
The 2025 GLOBAL Missions offering is an opportunity to add much-needed fuel to the second part of our vision! We are asking every person in Venture to prayerfully consider a SACRIFICIAL gift over and above what they already give to Venture’s One Fund to help advance the Gospel to the more than 3.4 billion people in the world who are considered UNREACHED.
Our average weekly offering is approximately $30,000, which is why we’ve set $30,000 as our goal for this offering. We are asking Venture to donate an extra week of our giving to the cause of Global Missions … to the cause of helping bring the Gospel to people who don’t have access!
Specifically, this year’s offering will help support three awesome Global Missions efforts:
(1) Two separate entry-level mission trips. One is in Guatemala, and the other one is in Honduras. Both are perfect opportunities for High School students and adults to experience cross-cultural missions and expand their vision for the world to know Jesus! The deadline to register for either of these trips is Feb. 2.
(2) Two separate trips to reach the unreached people group we adopted as a church — the Darfurians. The people of Darfur are almost entirely muslim. The few Christians among them are severely persecuted. Meanwhile, Sudan (where Darfur is located) continues to be in a horrific civil war. People are being slaughtered at such levels that a mass exodus is taking place. Many Sudanees are fleeing to refugee camps in Uganda and South Sudan, where it happens to be LEGAL to be a Christian! As such, Christians from all around the world are serving in these camps, and the Gospel is starting to bear fruit! It is an unprecedented opportunity!!! Therefore, we are sending a team to Uganda and a separate team to South Sudan to teach the Bible to recently converted Darfurian refugees. The purpose is to help them grow in their faith and understanding of the Gospel and, in so doing, better equip them to go make disciples … to be better equipped to start a movement that changes an entire nation! However, to safely do that, we have to get them out of the Muslim-dominated refugee camps to places where they can be taught and equipped, then sent back to the refugee camps where they are putting their lives on the line to proclaim the love of Jesus. These are expensive trips, but they are literally TURNING THE WORLD RIGHT SIDE UP with the Gospel of Jesus!!! The deadline to register for the Uganda trip is Dec. 7. The South Sudan trip is now closed.
(3) The International Missions Board is the largest mission agency in the world, and they are focused on planting churches in places around the world that have no access to the Gospel. They do an annual offering named after a famous missionary (Lottie Moon) that is dedicated to directly funding the missionaries working in the field. Venture sent two of those missionaries! Rocky and Jude (code names to protect them), who are serving in Southeast Asia and are entirely funded by this offering.

For the last several years, we have raised the percentage of our annual budget paid for by donations to Venture’s One Fund that goes to Global Missions. Because of the noticeable increase in the number of people who are now tithing to Venture’s One Fund, we hope to be able to make a game-changing step in the next budget for the amount of money we are able to commit to global missions.
Pray for the leadership team as we enter our budget process and seek the Lord on what He is calling us to do.
Pray for how you should be donating to Venture’s One Fund to facilitate the work of your local church to accomplish the vision He has given us for this region and for people around the world who have NO access to the Gospel at all.
Finally, pray about how you and your family can invest in this year’s Global Missions Offering. This annual offering gives us all an opportunity to give a gift to the cause of Christ over and above our regular tithe (10% of our income) to our local church. It’s what the Bible refers to as a “free will” offering, and it gives us an awesome opportunity to teach our children what Biblical generosity looks like as well as what matters most–Jesus and HIS life! Therefore, we strongly encourage families to talk about this offering together and then pray about what you can give up this Christmas season to make a sacrificial gift over and above what you already give to Venture’s One Fund. Here are some ideas to consider as you pray:
(1) Make a budget for purchasing Christmas presents for your kids this year, then divide that budget by one more kid than you have … let that extra kid be the amount you give to the offering and talk about it WITH your kids!!
(2) As couples, consider not purchasing gifts for each other and instead giving that money to this offering. Wrap a box, put it under your tree with the mission trips and missionaries we are talking about in this offering, open it on Christmas morning, and take time as a family to pray for the people on that list!
(3) Create a monthly family budget and put tithing (10%) to Venture in the first line and the annual Global Missions offering in the second line. Make it a designated percentage, like tithing, so you know the minimum you’ll put in it each month. You may not get far this year, but you will have saved up to give a gift that will pump you up to give next year! Giving to the cause of Christ is flat out FUN!!!!!!!!!!!
There is nothing we can do in this world that has more meaning than loving people the way God loves us and that necessarily includes sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ! May our hearts BURN with a passion for our neighbors and the world to know HIM!!
