I Believe

We are getting ready to share a new song called “I Believe” by Charity Gayle. We have a few other songs in our rotation that she writes and one thing that seems constant with her music is that it always amplifies the gospel.
As I’ve been reflecting on this song, the timing of us bringing it in is no coincidence, I truly believe God ordained this song to be presented to our church body during a very hard time in the world around us and even in our hearts and minds.

“I believe” is a song of FAITH that helps remind us that it is well with our souls because GOD is in control. Nothing and no one will ever bring us satisfaction and hope like Jesus. In a world where everyone’s trying to tell you what to believe, or that there’s no absolute truth, or to just believe in yourself…
“Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.(John 14:6)

The verses of “I Believe” draws out a variety of passages throughout Scripture and immensely highlight God’s character.

The chorus of the song is just a full declaration of faith and belief in him. Reminding us of the consistent identity and work of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

The “I believe” bridge also paints a beautiful picture of the gospel message from Jesus dying on the cross, all the way to the return for His spotless bride, looking ahead to God’s promised work in the future.
Overall when we know what God has done in the past and how faithful he’s been, we can take steps of obedience by faith in the present, trusting that “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” (Hebrews 13:8)

It’s so easy to get distracted and swept up in this life’s circumstances, schedules, and busyness. We go from one place to the next, trying to keep up with phone calls, texts, emails, and what’s happening on social media… BUT In those moments when life is happening to us more than we’re INTENTIONALLY living it, we need the reset that this new song “I Believe” provides us.

This song provides the reminder that no matter what we’re going through we have a hope in the one true Savior!
“For to this end we toil and strive, because we have our hope set on the living God, who is the Savior of all people, especially of those who believe.” (1 Timothy 4:10-14)

As we introduce this new song “I Believe” and as we also approach the start of our new sermon series “What we Believe and Why”, my prayer is that we can stand in confidence, through the power of His word and rebuke the lies and schemes of the enemy. So, be encouraged, Jesus is ready to meet you where you’re at, we just have to believe.
